Perceptual Rendering

Adaptive reading, shown through small interactive experiments.

A proof of concept for adaptive reading: the same text rendered in different ways for different readers. It shows how learning products can be tested with small, measurable experiments.

Same information, different renderings

The claim is modest and testable: people often struggle less with the content than with the presentation. The prototype lets a reader switch how text is structured (the mode bar) and tune readability (the display controls), while the underlying content stays the same.

What this is

  • A minimal demo of a rendering layer: structure and formatting adapt to the reader.
  • No AI, no personality typing, no claims about fixed learning styles.
  • The aim is to see whether certain renderings reduce friction and improve comprehension and recall.

How to use it

  1. Pick a topic below.
  2. Switch rendering modes in the mode bar: Skimmer, Stepper, Deep Reader, Visual Chunker or Socratic.
  3. Adjust the comfort controls in the left panel: font, size, spacing and line width.
  4. Notice which mode makes things click faster, with less fatigue.

Choose a topic

Topic · dense concept

What is a black hole, really?

Dense concept, high misconception load. A good stress test for structure.

Topic · abstract idea

What is entropy (without equations)?

Abstract idea with slippery intuition. Rendering should matter a lot here.

Open →

Topic · everyday procedure

How to design a great cheese board

Low-stakes procedural problem. Tests whether the layer generalizes beyond STEM.

Experiment · one-page reference

Basic pig feeding

One sample text on a single page, shown in all five modes with the same controls.

Rendering logic is shared across topics; only the content payload changes.
